When I was in the Thorvaldsen Museum in Copenhagen a couple of weeks ago I made an unexpected discovery: a bust of Edward Pellew! I believe it's a plaster study for a work in marble, made in Rome in 1814. I have no idea if the marble exists, or was ever finished, but there is a marble bust of Pellew's daughter in law, also by Thorvaldsen, in the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

I don't know if anyone's made a Pellew mood theme before, but I just finished making one last night. Rather than keep it to myself, I decided to share it with everyone here. So, for a preview of my Captain Sir Edward Pellew Theme, go here. It was made completely by me: caps, cropping, and mood attribution. Hello, all! I'm a recent convert to Hornblower - heaven knows what I was doing when they were originally on television! But better late than never, no?
Anyway, I began watching them expecting to love Hornblower - and indeed I do - but I was not expecting to utterly adore the good Sir Edward Pellew, although he is entirely deserving of adoration! I love how fond he is of Hornblower, how proud he is, and that he loves him is in no doubt, whether it be father/son, mentor or slashy. And I am not averse to the slash!
So I'm very pleased to have discovered this community of like-minded souls. Greetings, all! |
